MINI DEGREE SHOW

A few weeks before the mini degree exhibition, I was struggling on ideas of what to present, what to do and generally just having an artist block. On this same day Christine Blasey Ford had a hearing in court after she accused supreme court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault. She lost. 

Afterwards I was scrolling through social media and I came across one of the most powerful images I have ever seen. 

This reminded me of something from a church, Jesus? A Mesiah? Or just a woman with the courage to speak up about sexual assault in court. Maybe all three of them. This whole 'God is a Woman' has became a millennials answer to a feminist movement so I figured I could play around with that idea. As I imagined the picture above to be some kind of religious God, I decided to paint Christine Blasey Ford as your stereotypical 'Jesus'. She lost her fight, this hashtag of #ibelieveher came about throughout Instagram and Twitter. So I couldn't ignore the whole relation between the Jesus and believing. 'If Jesus was a woman, would you believe her' was the name of this piece take it as you will.
